Gianmaria Gava - Little Austria

This project depicts the intimate relationship between people and their living spaces. During the age of industrialisation, initiatives were created whereby urban outskirts were cultivated into small fields and natural spaces allowing factory workers the possibility to escape the city. These organic areas were not swept away with the rapid urbanisation of the late twentieth century but rather were transformed into flourishing private gardens and the work sheds into one-storeyed weekend cottages: they became a rural hideout in the centre of the city.
